Rose left her home state of Michigan, and hit the road to pick apples and banjos, later dropping the apples and picking up various accordions, stringbass and tap shoes. Eventually our gal Rose saw the honkytonk light and an electrical outlet and then found a steel guitar hiding down in her knapsack.  Ever since the day she hooked 'em all together, she's been on the road to honkytonk heaven.  Layin' down the twang in Girl Howdy, Rose plays a 1961 Fender Stringmaster double-neck 8-string non-pedal steel guitar and loves the A6 and E13 tunings.

When she's not honky tonkin' around the Northeast with Girl Howdy, Rose is steelin' with Twin Guitar Swing, playing button accordion with Planet Zydeco, or on tour with the San Francisco-based Crooked Jades, playing banjo, uke and harmonium.  As a multi-instrumentalist, she has toured with various bands across the U.S., Canada and Europe, appearing on "A Prairie Home Companion," "Mountain Stage," "E Town,"  West Coast Live," the BBC, Voice of America, and venues from NYC's Town Hall to the Carter Family Fold.  She was a founding member of the influential stringband, the Heartbeats Rhythm Quartet [Green Linnet Records], along with Tara Nevins (Donna the Buffalo), Beverly Smith and June Drucker.
