Fashion Week event celebrates regional talent in style


After a short hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kedah Fashion Week has returned to shine a spotlight on Southeast Asia’s diverse and innovative fashion scene.

The Aman Central fashion showcase in Alor Setar featured 12 renowned brands, 16 acclaimed designers and eight innovative local designers.

Celebrity Natasha Hudson acted as emcee as fashion week kicked off with a showcase of the work of local fashion designers at 3 p.m., followed by a parade of mall tenants at 5 p.m.

Icahfa and Qaira Hijab were among the participating lifestyle brands.

During the three-day event, 31 fashion shows showcased apparel, including sportswear.

Jewelry and shoes were also on display.

The talented list included Hirankrit Pattaraboriboonkul, a Thai designer, and Edwin Ao, a Filipino designer.

Eugene Chow, Hooi Ho Mun and Homun Hooi were among the rising names to unveil their collections.

The event was alive with lively exchanges of ideas among the glitter attendees.

They included VIP guests as well as media partners, sponsors, models and fashion influencers.

Miss Global International 2022 Sandra Lim, Iday and Kedahan celebrity Rozita Chan were among the VIP guests.

Audiences and buyers enjoyed entertaining performances by guest artists.

They were serenaded by Anugerah Juara Lagu 36 (AJL) singers Marsha Milan Londoh at the Fashion Showcase Gala Party and Khai Bahar at Men’s Night, while AJL31 singer Dayang NurFaizah performed in the grand finale.

The event ended with a special tribute. “Fashion Icon of KFW22” Eric Choong, designer, for his 33 years of service to the industry.

Belleview Group Managing Director Datuk Sonny Ho told a press conference earlier that the event will inspire the region’s fashion industry.

Aman Central also hosted Fashion Week. “Your Bullet Train to KFW22” competition in partnership with Sony Pictures Malaysia. The winners could not only watch KFW 2022, but also the movie Bullet Train.
