Winners of 2022 Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers Competition Revealed, Business News


HONG KONG, Sep 14, 2022 – (ACN Newswire) – Asia’s leading fashion event, CENTRESTAGE, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), ended on September 11 with Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) 2022. Ten up-and-coming local designers showcased their designs in an eye-catching fashion show with celebrities Will Or, Siuyea Lo and JB as special guests to add to the festive atmosphere. After the show, a panel of industry professionals selected three winners for the four YDC awards. Champion Vicky Tsang received a monetary award as well as a month-long internship abroad sponsored by Fang Brothers Knitting Ltd.

The YDC 2022 winners are:

– Award of Excellence: Lorraine Tam; Design: “I’M NOT INFECTED”
– Prize for the best visual presentation: Lorraine Tam; Design: “I’M NOT INFECTED”
– Prize for my favorite collection: Justine Wan; Design: “A WORRIED MIND”

Champion Vicky Tsang said her collection, “EXHAUSTING A CROWD,” used 3D prints to illustrate a surreal aesthetic. “I am very surprised and happy to be named Champion! Even though there were a lot of setbacks during the whole design process, I came to the show today with serenity. Thank you to all the staff who helped me been supportive over the past two months,” Ms Tsang said after receiving the award.

Judges provide valuable feedback to YDC participants

This year’s YDC judging panel was made up of an impressive roster of fashion and media experts. The chief judge was Katherine Fang, chair of the HKTDC Apparel Advisory Committee. The other judges on the jury were Ahy Choi, Senior Deputy Editorial Director of VOGUE Hong Kong; Jonathan Lee, Wholesale Manager, APAC of Ryodan Showroom; Jimmy Chan, Head of Account Manager, APAC of Farfetch; Constance Lee, director of ConStyle Limited and fashion designer; and Joe Li, Creative Director, Circularity Ambassador.

Hideaki Shikama, creator of the famous Japanese fashion brand Children of the discordance, was invited as a VIP judge.
